Detroit is 1-1 the last two games, winning as a +160 dog at Cleveland. They played yesterday, a 7-1 loss, but they face a Twins team that is 0-5 when their opponent scores 2 or fewer runs in their previous game. Center fielder Anthony Gose is thriving at the top of the lineup for Detroit, hitting safely in six straight games and 10 of 11. The Tigers have a winning record in the last 10 starts made by Alfredo Simon, including a shutout of Cleveland in seven innings allowing two hits of a 6-0 rout two starts ago. Minnesota goes with Phil Hughes (4.49 ERA), who has been sidelined since August 9 with a back issue. He has already served up 28 homers this season despite his lengthy absence.
