Minnesota got the win yesterday, but it was only the seventh win for Minnesota over Detroit in the last 24 meetings at Target Field. The Twins scored more than four runs for the first time in 11 games. This is a struggling Twins offense that is weak, and they are 24-48 against a team with a winning record, plus 19-45 at home against a team with a winning record. Twins righty P.J. Walters has a great ERA, but has been very hittable allowing 31 hits and 37 base runners in 25 innings. Detroit leads the major leagues with a .279 batting average and a .347 on-base percentage, and has the lowest team ERA in the American League among starters at 3.36. Righty Doug Fister (5-4, 3.28 ERA) has been pitching great with a 2.31 ERA his last three starts, walking only two with 19 strikeouts in 23 innings. Detroit likes get-away-day games, with the Tigers 52-24 in their last 76 Sunday games. Look for a big bounce back game by the talented and balanced visitors. Play the Tigers.
