The Detroit Tigers looked to be on cruise control at the All-Star break. They have one of the best rotations in the game, but some of those pieces have found their way to the sidelines with injuries. Last night the Tigers hit bottom with a softball-like laugher 20-6 loss to the Minnesota Twins. The loss leaves the Tigers searching for answers, as they have now fallen to 15-21 since July 13th. Buck Farmer gets the ball in game one, and his debut was less than promising as he allowed four runs in five innings. Farmer started the season in A ball, made two starts in AA, and here he is trying to win in the bigs. Minnesota is 18-21 in their last 39 games, which is actually better than Detroit over the same period. Yohan Pino is being recalled from AAA to make this start, and while he has not been impressive on the road, he is more than holding his own at home with an ERA of 3.77. The Tigers are struggling, no doubt about it, and over their last 34 doubleheaders they are 6-28 in game one. Detroit also owns a 15-5-1 mark to the UNDER in the first game of a twin-bill in their last 21, and are now 6-0 to the UNDER if their opponent scored 5+ runs in their previous game. The Tigers hold a 26-9 UNDER mark when on the road and facing a team with a losing home record in their last 35. Minnesota is 34-16-3 in their last 53 when facing a pitcher with a WHIP greater than 1.30. Take Minnesota and the UNDER in game one.
