Los Angeles swept the Tigers in a three-game series at Detroit in July and now the Angels get them at home after winning four of their past seven games. Griffin Canning is 7-6 with a 1.23 WHIP for the Angels and he faced the Tigers once this year and allowed two runs on seven hits in five innings. Canning has pitched better than his record indicates recently as he has given up just 15 earned runs in 36 innings his past seven outings although the Angels won only three of them. The Angel bullpen is tied at #10 in the majors with 42 saves. Tarik Skubal has a 1.53 ERA and .175 opponent batting average at home, but it rises to 6.00 and .274 in road games.
