Detroit at Kansas City

The Tigers are mired in mediocrity and their high-priced lineup couldn't produce again last night in a 1-0 loss to rookie Eric Skoglund, who was making his Major League debut. Detroit has lost five of its last seven games and now has Matt Boyd on the mound. Boyd is a lackluster 2-5 with a 5.40 ERA and the Tigers have lost his last six starts. Boyd has been pummeled to the tune of 18 runs on 37 hits in 18 1/3 innings his last four outings and current Kansas City hitters are batting .318 against him with a .908 OPS. Ian Kennedy has pitched better at home where he has a 3.04 ERA and overall the right-hander has pitched better than his record indicates as opposing hitters are batting only .190 against him. Detroit has lost eight of its last 11 road games and Kennedy has a 2.96 ERA versus the Tigers the last three seasons. Take the Royals.
