Detroit at Kansas City

The Kansas City Royals are in a battle they don't want to be in for "Worst record in baseball". At 27-68 (.284), KC is just 2.5 games ahead of last-place Oakland (.260). The Tigers (.452) have made some progress, and won the opener in this series 3-2 last night. Kansas City has done a better job at home recently as they are 4-4 here in their last eight, and have held six of those opponents to four or fewer runs. The Royals own a 26-19 record in this series the last 45 times they have met in Kansas City. Tiger starter Tarik Skubel made his first start of the season on July 4, and he is 0-2 on the year. I think there is a solid opening here for a competitive game, and I will back Kansas City on the run line.
