Detroit at Kansas City

Kansas City is awful on the road, but they play their best baseball at home with close to a .500 record. And that’s a concern with Detroit starter Max Scherzer  as he has a 3.63 ERA at home in spacious Comerica, but a 5.03 ERA on the road.  In fact, the Tigers are 3-7 in Scherzer’s last ten starts as a road favorite and 4-10 in his last 14 road starts vs. a team with a losing record.  He faces a good Kansas City offense, one that is 12th in runs scored and 9th in on base percentage. KC starter Bruce Chen has been reliable all year and very good at home, with a 3-1 record and a 3.35 ERA in this park. And the Royals are 4-0 in Chen’s last four starts as a home underdog.
