Detroit is starting to hit, winning two of the last three games scoring 7, 5 and 3 runs. That includes a 3-2 win in Cincinnati yesterday. Starter Drew Smyly has a good arm, with a 3.71 ERA fanning 55 in 60+ innings and only 17 walks. Plus, the Reds have never faced the kid before. The Tigers are 15-6 in their last 21 against the National League Central and 5-2 on the road versus a right-handed starter. The Reds go with righty Homer Bailey (4-4), who is favored but has allowed more hits than innings pitched. The Reds are 1-4 in Bailey's last five interleague starts. Cincinnati has cooled off, losing four of six despite being favored in five of those contests. The Reds are 2-5 in their last seven interleague games vs. a team with a losing record and 2-7 in their last nine against the American League Central. Play the Tigers.
