The Chicago White Sox hold a two game lead over the Tigers in the Al Central. That makes this a very important game for both, as they don't play each other again down the stretch. The White Sox have to be feeling good about sweeping the Twins and outscoring them 20-5 in the process, all on the road. The Tigers simply haven't done enough down the stretch to help their cause as they are 8-10 over their last 18 games. Doug Fister was supposed to upgrade the rotation but the Tigers have been just 11-11 in his 22 starts on the season. Rookie Jose Quintana has been every bit his equal as the White Sox are 11-8 in his 19 starts on the season and his ERA is slightly lower as well. If we call the pitching matchup a wash a true advantage is seen with the home dog here with the White Sox now 19-7 in their last 26 at home vs. a righthander, while the Tigers have struggled to a 3-13 mark in their last 16 on the road vs. a lefthander. Play is on Chicago
