Playing out the string is one thing -- playing at home at least gives the fans something to cheer about before the lost season is done. Detroit winds up the season this weekend a huge disappointment. The Tigers are on a 5-12 run on the road and a 1-5 run overall. Justin Verlander goes here, but the Tigers are 1-5 when he faces a team with a losing record. Chicago has a chance to have a winning record at home for the year with a good showing this weekend. White Sox starter Erik Johnson (3-1, 3.45 ERA) is making a push to join the rotation for 2016 and is throwing well, with Chicago 6-2 his last eight starts. The White Sox are 5-1 in his last six home starts. He faced Detroit once this season, getting a win after fanning nine and walking two in six innings. Chicago won the opener of this series yesterday, 2-1, and umpire Adrian Johnson is behind the plate tonight. The home team is 11-4 when Johnson is calling balls and strikes, including 11-3 when he's at Chicago. Play the White Sox.
