Detroit at Chicago

It seems like Justin Verlander has been in Detroit forever. Once again the sturdy righthander will get the ball for the Tigers for an Opening Day start that was pushed back a day. Many thought that the Tigers, with their heavy payroll, would start breaking up their team. They held their ground and this season could be the final run for the stars on this team to get over the top. If this group of aging veteran stars can stay healthy, they will be in the mix in the AL. Jason Verlander was 20-14 last season after going 7-13 the previous year. Chicago has had four straight losing seasons and decided to let go of Chris Sale, so this team is going to try to rebuild with young players. They are a couple of years away from being competitive, and with Sale no longer around to stop the bleeding, it will be a long season. Take Detroit.
