Detroit at Boston

Detroit won 4-2 last night to creep within 5 1/2 games of first place in the AL Central and the Tigers are trying to stay close enough until J.D. Martinez returns to the lineup. Mike Pelfrey has had decent starts in three of his last four outings, including a 2-1 win at the White Sox on Thursday when he allowed just one run in 5 1/3 innings. Pelfrey has had some success against Boston's hitters, who have a combined .255 batting average against him. Last year, Pelfrey gave up only two runs in 14 innings against the Red Sox, including one run in seven innings at Fenway Park. Steven Wright has been a little shaky lately, allowing 23 runs and 31 hits his last five starts although he has received great run support. There is huge value with the road underdog in this matchup, so play the Tigers.
