It doesn't get any easier for Atlanta. They have been in an offensive slump that exceeds anything this franchise has seen in over a decade. They have now been shutout three straight games and will face one of the hottest pitchers in baseball - Justin Verlander. The Braves have been just 6-13 over their last 19 games and have failed to top two runs scored in over half of them. The Tigers have been red-hot, winners of five straight, and to put it in perspective they have scored 136 runs in their last 18 or almost eight per game, and have been held to two runs or less just twice in their last 32 games. The Braves have managed just 12 hits in their last three games, and have not had an extra-base hit in their last two games, and a lonely double to show for their last three. They face Verlander who has allowed just 12 hits and three runs in his last three starts while striking out 24. Kyle Davies gets the ball for the Braves and he hasn't exactly been a stopper. The Braves have seen 37 runs cross the plate in his last five starts. Detroit extends the winning streak to six here.
