Colorado has fallen into last place in the NL West with a 20-23 record overall 6-12 on the road after losing at Pittsburgh 10-5 on Wednesday. The Rockies have lost six of their past nine games and have scored only seven runs their last three games. Washington enjoyed its best pitching performance of the year as Eddie Fedde and three relievers combined on a six-hit shutout in a 1-0 victory over the Dodgers. The Nationals will try to keep it going against German Marquez, who is 1-4 with a 6.14 ERA and 1.59 WHIP and in his previous start against the Nationals he gave up seven runs on 10 hits in five innings in a 10-2 loss on May 3. Marquez has allowed 11 runs (seven earned) on 13 hits in 9 2/3 innings on the road. Colorado has lost seven straight in Game 1 of a series and four in a row overall against left-handed starters.
