Much like Livan Hernandez, Jason Schmidt is rounding the corner it seems and he is doing it at the right time as the Giants are playing great ball of late. After struggling a bit in the first few games, Schmidt has won his last four of five, pitched two complete games and in 40 innings has given up seven earned runs. His ERA over his last three starts is a bargain basement 1.85. He is facing the Rockies and Jeff Francis who has pitched very well this season and might be the most improved pitcher in the National League. However, given the way the Giants are playing, their offense coming to life of late, it is tough not to like them at home in this spot. The Rockies are 2-8 when Francis is on the road as underdog of +110 to +150, the Giants are 5-0 in their last five games against a left-hander and Francis is 0-3 in road starts against the Giants. And despite their vast improvement this season, Colorado is 2-21 over the past two seasons on the road vs. a pitcher who's WHIP is 1.250 or better. Let's ride the boys from the Bay today to win in a tight game in what could be a great pitcher's duel.
