It has not been a good year for either one of these teams. It has been a long time since they have had any meaningful games. Jason Hammels has been one of the disappointments for the Rockies. Hammels, after posting winning seasons his first two years in a Rockies uniform, is at 7-13 with a career-worst ERA of 4.85. Overall the Rockies are just 7-14 in his last 21 starts. The Astros sure expected more from J.A. Happ, but he is at 6-15 for the season. However, he has finally pitched well of late with the Astros going 3-1 over his last four starts where he has pitched to a stellar 1.75 ERA. The Rockies are hoping that Hammels last start will be a good one and will produce more of the same, but unfortunately that has not been the case as they are 0-9 when Hammels pitches following a quality start. Houston gets the call.
