Jim Crane forked over a lot of cash to take over a desperate Houston Astros franchise that proceeded to lose 106 games a year ago, and were simply not competitive. Unfortunately, there were not any significant other moves in Houston to avoid the repeat disaster before they head to the AL next season. Jeremy Guthrie finally has some bats behind him, and could have the kind of season that many expected as he has very good stuff. Good enough, that this is his third start for the opener in four years. Guthrie’s one career stint vs. the Astros was an 8 inning shutout. The Rockies closed last season at 9-4 as a road favorite, while the Astros are 21-54 in their last 75 vs. a right-hand starter. Play on Colorado.
