The Cincinnati Reds and the St. Louis Cardinals both have something to play for tonight. The Reds have long since clinched the NL Central, but heading into the last series of the regular season they find themselves in a dead heat with washington for the best record in baseball, which comes with a coveted homefield advantage all the way through the World Series. The Cards have a two game lead for the #2 wildcard spot in the West over the Dodgers and are just about in. Jaime Garcia has had trouble duplicating his rookie season and now completing his third year has produced an ERA higher with each passing season. At a 3.99 ERA he has become pedestrian. Bronson Arroyo at 8-6 and a 3.49 ERA on the road gives the Reds at least an even matchup on the mound, while the Reds have a much better pen to close the game out. Play on Cincinnati.
