Chicago at Cleveland

Cleveland plays its home opener after splitting its first six games. Carlos Carrasco takes the mound after allowing two runs and four hits in 5 2/3 innings as the Indians beat Texas 4-3 last Tuesday. Carrasco had a 5-3 record and 2.47 ERA before the All Star break last season, including 2-0 and 2.45 in April. James Shields held Detroit to a run and two hits in 5 1/3 innings, but the right-hander is coming off a horrible season and can't be trusted yet. Shields was 6-19 in 2016 with a 5.85 ERA and allowed 40 home runs and 82 walks in 181 2/3 innings. The Indians pummeled Shields with nine runs and 10 hits in just 7 2/3 innings last season. Chicago has lost 41 of its last 60 road games and seven of Shields' last eight road starts. Cleveland has won 10 of Carrasco's last 12 starts in the opening game of a series.
