It has been over a century since the Chicago Cubs, their fans, and ownership have celebrated a World Series win, and that won't change this season. It doesn't mean, however, that the Cubs won't be competitive in the right spots, and the offense has been swinging the bats early in the season. The Cubs have plated 31 runs in their last five games where they are 3-2, and took the opener against the Cardinals in this series and should be a confident team taking the field today. Adam Wainwright walked just 35 batters last season, but through 14 innings this year he has walked 6, and his command is a bit off. Wainwright is 8-6 with a 4.24 ERA in 31 appearances (21 starts) against Chicago, so the hot bats could show some life here in this one. The Cubs stay within reach here, so take them on the plus-odds runline.
