Chicago at Miami

In a classic example of overvaluation of starting pitching, the public is supporting the 18-27 Cubs as a road favorite. This despite the fact that Chicago has won one of thier last six road games. I think the Marlins get the sweep today. You never thought you would hear that at the beginning of the season right? The fact remains that if these youngsters on the Marlins team begin beleiving in themselves, they can play ball against the best teams in the league. This team is not lacking in talent, but simply in confidence and experience in which they are making up for it quickly this year. While Maddux started off the season strong, he has come back down to earth as the White Sox and the Padres rolled him for 13 runs over the past three games. Maddux has been up and down of late but the Cubs simply lack offense (34.6 runs per game) putting a lot of pressure on him to be near perfect. Considering that averages 6.1 innings per start, even if he pitches well, the Cubs could be in trouble. Moehler has pitched great of late going 7 innings in each of his last two outings and giving up just two earned runs. The Cubs are 0-5 when Maddux is on the road as a favorite of -110 to -150 and 3-12 with him on the mound as a -125 to -175 favorite. The Marlins are 3-0 of late against the Cubbies. Fish here.
