Chicago picked up its first win of the new campaign with a 2-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday. Hopes are high with a new lineup and first-year manager Joe Maddon. The Cubs are 9-3 following an off day and 8-3 in Travis Wood's last 11 starts during game one of a series. Colorado is all the rage this week after the offense went wild, but you still need pitching to win in this league over the long haul and the Rockies don't have it. The Rockies are 9-28 in game one of a series. They go with lefty Tyler Matzek, a kid with marginal stuff off a 6-11 campaign with a 4.05 ERA, including an ERA over 13 against the Cubbies. The Rockies are 5-13 in his last 18 starts. Chicago has better pitching and has beaten Colorado in five of the last seven meetings. Take the Cubs in Denver.
