The Boston Red Sox are simply not the same team as the one that won it all last October. They finished June averaging just 3 runs per game the entire month, and have scored just 1 run in two games vs. the Cubs in this series. It's hard to believe that they are now even with the Cubs in the loss column for the season with 46. The Cubs turn to Travis Wood who has not allowed more than 3 earned runs in any of his last five starts. Things have gotten so desperate for Boston that they started an all-rookie outfield yesterday, and to complicate matters third baseman Xander Bogaerts is a woeful 6-73 in his last 20 games. The Cubs have won five straight interleague games vs. a team with a losing record, as well as five straight on the road behind Wood vs. a team with a losing record. Boston is just 1-7 in their last eight vs. a left-hander and are simply playing poorly. Back the Cubbies in this one.
