Defending champion Boston has been a colossal underachiever, already eliminated from contention for the AL East title. Pitching has been the culprit (#19 in team ERA), riding a four-game skid while allowing 24 runs. Boston is going to use relievers for the last two games of the series. They have retread Jhoulys Chacin (3-10, 5.60 ERA) going along with Bobby Poyner (10.50 ERA). Chacin is a recent pick-up after being released from Milwaukee, which shows how far the champs have fallen. Boston is 8-14 after batting .225 or worse over a five-game span. This is the second straight home game for Toronto, off a 4-3 win last night as a +140 dog. Toronto has a talented trio of rookies who've added life to the final month in Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, and Cavan Biggio. In addition, young first baseman Rowdy Tellez (18 homers) hit the go-ahead two-run homer in the fifth last night. The Red Sox are on a money-burning 3-7 run losing as chalk four times, so back the home dog again. Play Toronto.
