Boston has packed it in for the season as it has lost six of its last eight games and sits near the bottom of the standings with a 14-28 record, including 7-11 on the road. Meanwhile, Philadelphia is surging winning six of eight, including Monday's 9-8 thriller over the Mets when Jean Segura hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning while driving in five runs in the game. Martin Perez will start for the Red Sox, and they have lost his last five starts, although he did pitch well his last outing against Toronto. Perez still has a 4.07 ERA and 2-4 record on the season. Zach Eflin has pitched much better at home where he owns a 3.52 ERA compared to 6.75 on the road. Boston is 7-20 following a loss and 15-36 versus teams with winning records dating to last season.
