The Red Sox pitching has been great in September, especially an improved bullpen. When you team that with the top offense in baseball you can see why this group has been on a tear in winning 11 in a row. The Red Sox recorded 23 strikeouts on Sunday (21 in the first nine innings) along with a record 11 in a row during a 3-2 win over Tampa Bay with only three walks. That marked the sixth time in the last seven games that the staff held the opposition to three or fewer runs. The Red Sox outfield defense is outstanding and the team is 18-5 on the road against a right-handed starter. Red Sox lefty David Price (17-8, 3.91 ERA) has been on a tear, too, with the team winning his last nine starts. New York has talented rookie Catcher Gary Sanchez, but he is 0-for-12 with five strikeouts in the last three games and is homerless in five straight. For the season Sanchez crushes righties but is hitting .184 versus lefties -- and he faces a dynamite southpaw tonight. New York's offense is #22 in baseball in runs scored, #25 in on-base percentage, #20 in slugging. The Yankees have lost three in a row when Luis Cessa (4.30 ERA) starts and he has a 5.61 ERA at home in 2016. New York is also 2-8 against a winning team so grab the first-place visitors closing in on a division clinch party. Play Boston.
