The Twins won a big game last night as they beat the Red Sox 8-1 in our only winning pick of the night. Why is it not possible for them to do it again as Silva faces Wakefield? In baseball, there are times when the public completely outweighs the matchup as they simply romanticize about betting the "big names" like Boston and Wakefield. Sure, it sounds much more exciting to say you're on the Redsox than on the Twins. However, today, the Twins are the best value in this matchup as they are the home dog. Wakefield has pitched well of late while Silva has struggled. However, I beleive that turns around today for several reasons. For one, Carlos Silva has always pitched better when playing against the better teams in the league as he raises the level of his game. Keep in mind the Red Sox have lost their last three and are 1-4 in their last five road games while the Twinkies are 3-0 and 5-1 in their last 6 games vs. a right-handed pitcher. Finally, the Red Sox are 1-6 in their last 7 meetings in Minnesota and I expect the Twins to pull this one out today as streaks in baseball are very meaningful.
