The Red Sox often get low-favorite numbers because they have injuries to their pitching staff that has them presenting a starter without much of a reputation. That puts them in good favor because this team can win with their bats, as well as the back of their bullpen. The case in point here is Jon Lackey posting a winning record with a 6+ ERA, and Anrew Miller is 4-1 with a 5.40 ERA. Kansas City starter Jeff Francis isn't much better at 4.76 on the season, and when you consider that the Sox’s bats and pen are better, they have a much larger upside here as a short road favorite. Boston is destroying lefties to the tune of 23-7 in their last 30 when facing them, while the Royals are just the opposite at 16-35 in their last 51 against a southpaw. Play on Boston in this one.
