Boston is 10-26 in their last 36 road games against a team with a winning record, and 2-5 in their last seven road games. They wind up a four-game road trip here. A problem for them is starter Felix Doubront (4.38 ERA), who puts far too many batters on base, with 32 walks and 78 hits allowed in 74 innings. That will be a huge problem in this game as Detroit is not only a powerhouse team at home, they are great offensively, 4th in baseball in runs scored, tops in on-base percentage. Their lineup is stocked with players who know how to work counts and draw walks (fifth in baseball in walks). That offense was on display yesterday in a 10-3 rout with 15 hits and five walks. There's nothing wrong with ace Justin Verlander, who has 106 strikeouts in 92 innings with only 32 walks allowed. The Tigers are 62-26 in their last 88 home games, and 57-18 in Verlander's last 75 home starts. Despite a win on Friday, the Red Sox are still only 1-6 in the last seven meetings in Detroit. Play the Tigers.
