The Boston Red Sox have been on a roller coaster ride as they followed 10 straight losses with seven straight wins, and have now followed that with four straight losses. They will be hard pressed to find the win column against Max Scherzer, who has been about as dominating at home in a Tiger uniform than any pitcher they have had past or present. Scherzer, since the start of the 2013 season, has led the Tigers to a 19-2 record, which includes 11 straight wins. The Red Sox come into this one with a 1-12 record off a loss, and last night's loss moves them to 0-8 in their last eight vs. the AL Central, which includes 3-9 in their last 12 vs. Detroit, with four straight losses here. The Tigers are now 23-4 in Scherzer's last 27 starts at home to a total of 7-8.5. Scherzer allowed zero runs in Fenway in a meeting vs. Lester this season, and the Sox are on the downhill side of their roller coaster ride. Play on Detroit.
