Boston at Baltimore

The Red Sox developed Justin Masterson, but then he went to Cleveland, and Boston has him back again. He is off to a 2-0 start, but that has not been a product of how he has pitched as his ERA is at 5.74 on the season. Baltimore has lost five straight games, and it is all in the hands of the pitching, which has allowed 7.6 runs per game during the five game slide. Wei-Yin Chen has deserved better, as 5 unearned runs were his undoing last time out, and previously he held the Yankees in check, limiting them to 2 runs over six innings of work. Overall he is 0-1 and 3.07 ERA and has deserved a better fate. Chen has certainly out-pitched Masterson on the season, but the numbers tell a different story. The Red Sox have struggled on the road vs. left-handed pitching where they are just 5-13 in their last 18. Play on Baltimore.
