The Atlanta Braves have played the over 6-0 this year and Giants have played the over 3-1 this year. Yes, both these teams respective aces go on the mound as John Smoltz and Jason Shcmidt take the helm. However, consider that both pitchers have been rocked a bit this year thus far with Smoltz sporting a 9+ era while Schmidt has a 5+ era. Combine that with the fact that the Braves are putting up an average of 8 runs per contest and the Giants at about 5.6, the over seems to be the play, despite the quality of these pitchers. The over is 11-0 in the last 11 games of the Braves when the total is set at 7-8.5. Their offense is simply too active for such a total and their starting pitcher and bullpen is too weak to keep the total at that mark as well it seems. The Braves are 10-1 on the over in their previous 11 when allowing 5 runs more in the previous game (yesterday went well over too). The Giants are over in their last 3 and the last 5 meetings between these teams have gone over - not to mention the last 3 times Schmidt has faced the Braves have all gone over.
