The ledger shows the Padres at 31-34 on the season, residing in mediocrity at three games below .500. That is definitely a misconception of what this team has become after a sluggish 5-15 start to the season. San Diego has since been 26-19 and is playing playoffs-caliber baseball. The Braves have been taking the opposite direction, after jumping out to a 12-1 start, they have been just 27-25. Things have been even more encouraging for San Diego at home where they are 17-7 over their last 24, which include wins in the first two in this series. Paul Maholm has started to come back to reality and the Braves are just 1-5 in his last six road starts. Atlanta has dipped below .500 on the road, and like the dog here, so play on San Diego.
