The Mets have played poorly of late, and won't be around come playoffs time. They were hopeful that after surgery, Johan Santana would emerge a better pitcher, but the one-time ace is now 33-years-old, is off of surgery, and most recently an ankle injury has made him pedestrian. Santana has allowed 19 runs in his last three starts, which covered less than 13 innings. Chris Medlan has made a seamless transition from the bullpen into the rotation, as he has allowed just a single run in each of his last two starts - his only two starts since an effective season-long run in the pen. The Mets are now just 8-20 over their last 28 games, and have dropped nine straight at home to a winning team. Play on Atlanta.
