The underdog Braves edged Miami in the season opener Monday, winning 2-1 behind strong pitching. The Braves are 4-0 as a road dog and have a terrific starter going in lefty Alex Wood (2014: 11-11, 2.78 ERA). Wood struck out 12 Marlins in a 1-0 victory on August 31st and fanned 11 in a 1-0 loss to Miami on April 22nd. Miami had an average offense last season and looked weak again in the opener. Last year Miami struck out the third most times of any baseball team. Miami goes with Mat Latos, who is a big question mark coming off elbow and knee injuries that limited him to 16 starts in 2014. The Marlins are 2-6 in their last eight home games, and 1-6 against a southpaw. Plus the Braves are 27-11 in the last 38 meetings in Miami. Play Atlanta.
