The young Atlanta Braves are considered a year ahead of schedule. The Braves finished 18 games under. 500 last year, and surprised by finishing 18 games over .500 this season. While most expected the Dodgers to be here, the surprise is that Clayton Kershaw on regular rest is not getting the ball for Game 1. The ball is being handed to Hyun-Jin Ryu, and perhaps rightfully so. Ryu missed over three months this season but has dominated when he has been healthy. Ryu returned in mid-August to post a 1.88 ERA covering 53 innings of work. The Dodgers won the season series 5-2, and outscored the Braves by +2.4 runs per contest. The Dodgers have won by 2.14 runs per game with Ryu on the hill, and won his last three starts by a combined total of 25-3.
