The Atlanta Braves looked like they were on their way to one of those special seasons, as they came out of the gate a smoking hot 12-1. It wasn't known at the time, but it was their best run of the season to date, which has since been a pedestrian .500 team. Kris Medlen looked to be a rising star a year ago when he posted a 10-1 record backed by a stingy 1.57 ERA. Medlen has not been able to duplicate those numbers this season as his ERA has swollen to almost more than twice that of a year ago, but is still respectable. The fact is, however, that the Braves have a losing record in his 15 starts. The Royals are 12-6 in their last 18 and have moved to within three games of .500, and have been lethal at home vs. right-handed pitching at 7-1 in their last eight. The Braves are 0-5 in their last five vs. a pitcher with a WHIP of less than 1.15. Play on Kansas City.
