It is getting to be that time of year when playoffs teams start to rest players and set their rotations for the playoffs. Atlanta has been a "one way" team this season, as they have done all their damage at home where they are 52-22 on the season. The road has been laden with land mines, as the Braves are a pedestrian 38-40. Paul Maholm has dealt with an elbow issue, and started the season strong, but has tailed off at 10-10 with just a 4.35 ERA. The Cubs have loved facing him, and rightfully so, as Maholm has yet to solve them. Maholm owns a career 5.03 ERA against the Cubs in 17 appearances against them, and the Braves are an imperfect 0-7 in his last seven road starts to a total of 7 to 8.5. The Cubs have been full of life off a seven day or longer road trip, now at 9-3 in their last 12. Go with the Cubbies.
