Atlanta has some offensive talent, and is getting hot and heads to small Wrigley Field - a fine hitter's park. First baseman Freddie Freeman returned from the disabled list Wednesday and went 1-for-3 with a walk. Braves CF Cameron Maybin is 13-for-31 with six runs scored during an eight-game hitting streak, while Atlanta RF Nick Markakis went 3-for-3 Wednesday to raise his average to .298. Atlanta is 2-1 in the last three starts made by rookie Mike Foltynewicz. He has been sharp on the road, allowing 2, 0, 1 and 1 run his last four road starts. The pressure of a pennant race is on Chicago and the Cubs dropped both ends of a two-game set with visiting Detroit. The Cubs are 2-6 as a favorite of -200 or greater. Ace Jake Arrieta goes here as big chalk, but is just is 1-1 with a 3.66 ERA in three career meetings against Atlanta. The Cubs are 1-4 in Arrieta's last five home starts vs. a team with a losing record and the Braves are 12-4 in the last 16 meetings. Play on the big dog Atlanta.
