Arizona at San Diego

San Diego is poised to break out after several rebuilding years as the Padres have several solid young pitchers and a good bullpen. Chris Paddack is one of those young hurlers as he comes off a 9-7 season, and opposing batters hit only .119 against him in 140 innings. Paddack pitched better at Petco Park where he had a 3.06 ERA compared to a 3-4 record and 3.53 ERA on the road. The right-hander had a stellar September when he allowed only one run in 16-plus innings. Paddack pitched 16 2/3 innings against Arizona and gave up two runs with a .197 opposing batting average.  Madison Bumgarner will make his debut for the Diamondbacks, and he finshed 9-9 in his last season with San Francisco. Arizona has lost five of the last seven meetings at San Diego. Take the Padres.
