Not many would be thinking that the Padres would be in first place after the All-Star break, but that is what we have in the NL West. The Padres have had some great pitching, and that alone should keep them in the race through the end of the season. They have allowed a total of 2 runs through their last three home games. Jon Garland has resurrected his career in San Diego, and owns a 2.62 ERA pitching off the home mound. Arizona remains one of the weakest road teams in baseball at 13-30. This one goes into the teeth of a second half system, but I have another system that trumps that one for this game. San Diego gets the call.
