A couple of great pitchers square-off in Oakland, which is a huge, pitcher friendly park. We saw that in yesterday’s 4-2 Arizona win, going under the total, and the under is 10-4 in Ian Kennedy’s last 14 starts overall. Kennedy (8-2, 3.01 ERA) has been consistent all season, striking out 97 in 116 innings with only 30 walks. And he comes in on a roll, with a 2.05 ERA his last three starts walking four while fanning 22 in 22 innings! He faces a terrible, last-place Oakland offense, one that is 28th in runs, 27th in batting average, 27th in on-base percentage and 28th in slugging. At least the A’s have Gio Gonzalez (2.38 ERA), who is also red-hot with a 1.29 ERA his last three starts. The UNDER is 20-8-3 in the Athletics’ last 31 interleague games vs. a right-handed starter and 19-7-2 UNDER the total in their last 28 interleague games. And the UNDER is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Oakland between these teams. Don’t look for much scoring in this get-away day game. Play the UNDER the total.
