Arizona at Los Angeles

Los Angeles is still the team to beat in the NL West as it has two of the top hitters in baseball in Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts. The Dodgers also picked up J.D. Martinez to serve the designated hitter role. Tonight's Opening Day pitcher, Julio Urias, won the NL ERA title last season and he led the league in wins the previous year. Urias had a 2.50 ERA and .156 opposing batting average last April and he allowed only one earned run in 11 1/3 innings against Arizona and the Diamondbacks have a combined .161 batting average against him. Arizona is expected to improve, but not enough to challenge the Dodgers and Padres. Zac Gallen finished 12-4 with a 2.54 ERA in 2022, but the Diamondbacks as a team have been dominated by the Dodgers in recent years and they are 19-60 the past 79 meetings at Dodger Stadium.
