Cleveland Guardians vs Detroit Tigers

Both managers will have everyone available to pitch in this winner-take-all Game 5. Detroit starter Tarik Skubal has a 1.99 ERA at home but 2.86 on the road. Detroit has all the momentum now with a mental boost from playing in front of its home fans, and A.J. Hinch has been a master at using his relievers to win games. Tanner Bibee starts for Cleveland and in four appearances against the Tigers this season he has allowed 11 runs on 19 hits in 22 innings. The past four meetings have been shutouts and the Guardians haven't scored since Game 1 as the long layoff following the end of the regular season as well as off days this series have hurt their hitters' timing. The Guardians are 1-8 their past nine playoff road games and 20-3-3 UNDER since Aug. 31. Detroit is 15-2 its past 17 games in the fourth game of a series. Detroit hadn't scored in 17 innings and then the whole complexion of the series changed with Kerry Carpenter's three-run shot to right field in the top of the ninth in Game 2 to give the Tigers a 3-0 win. The Tigers now go back home with the confidence and momentum needed to come out on top in the ALDS. Keider Montero is back on the roster and appears to be the starter in Game 3. Montero went 2-0 with a 3.77 ERA in September and he faced Cleveland once this year and allowed no runs on three hits in 6 1/3 innings. Alex Cobb is making just his fourth start of the year and first since Sept. 1. He hasn't pitched in a postseason game since the 2013 ALDS for Tampa Bay. The Guardians have lost seven of their past eight playoff road games and they are 4-0-1 UNDER their past five games overall following an off day. Detroit has Tarik Skubal starting today and he is certain to win the Cy Young Award, but it won't do the Tigers much good in Game 2 if they can't score runs. The Tigers were shut out 7-0 n Saturday and Cleveland's bullpen threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings. Matthew Boyd, a former Tiger, will be on the mound for the Guardians and they have won six of his eight outings this season. Boyd has allowed only 12 earned runs in 39 2/3 innings for a 2.72 ERA. Cleveland has won five of the past six meetings and Detroit is 7-2-1 UNDER its past 10 games. The Tigers are 6-0-2 UNDER as favorites of -110 to -150 and Skubal's past four starts have stayed UNDER.
