Top pick: #7 (SINGLE MARK) (9-2) - He's the main speed and last out he tired very late to finish fourth here at this level going 6.5-furlongs. Gelding is racing third off a 10 week break and trainer Jeff Metz will shorten him up a furlong for this attempt.
nd pick: #6 (Sabres Rattle) (4-1) - Lightly-raced gelding chased a fast pace and tired in the final furlong here at this tag on Dec. 15. He worked very fast four days ago and is another cutting back a bit in distance.
rd pick: #2 (Global Court) (5-1) - Speed/stalker was a "winner" here at this tag going 5-furlongs on Dec. 30, but was disqualified and placed third for not keeping a straight course in the final 1/16th. He should be involved from start-to-finish.
th pick: #1 (Mr Bob) (6-1) - Unusual scenario as this 8-year-old is making only his third career start. Texas-bred had a tough outside post last out and did well to finish 4th of 12, beaten only 2 1/2 lengths. Race was his first in 15 1/2 months and this afternoon he breaks from the rail. In the mix.
th pick: #12 (Smooth Bay) (12-1) - He ships in from the So. California circuit where he raced evenly last out at Santa Anita on Jan. 2. An OK effort, he's been sold since and takes a big drop in class for his local debut. His post is of no help.
