Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #7 (MS. MUMBA) (5-2) - Lightly-raced and well bred she rallied to break her maiden here going 6.5-furlongs for a $5,000 claiming price Nov 28. It was her first local appearance it came off a 4 1/2 month layoff. She ran second at this level Dec 19 in her first facing winners and is the horse to beat.
nd pick: #5 (Gold Locket) (8-1) - Cal bred is dropping in class, switching from grass to dirt, and trainer Jeff Metz is cutting her back in distance. Four-year-old broke her maiden on the main track at Santa Anita last March and is a win candidate at a square price.
rd pick: #1 (Flyer Wright) (5-1) - Speedy Texas bred is dropping to a new low and breaks from the rail. She got her maiden win here Oct 24, then finished a pace-setting second 16 days later facing tougher in her first facing winners. Four-year-old ran evenly Dec 20 and is dropping into a career soft spot. Must be left in the win mix.
th pick: #10 (Hugsforhennyhall) (8-1) - Daughter of 'Henny Hughes' finished second here at this level and distance in her local debut Nov 30. In her follow up start Dec 19 she raced in traffic before tiring to check in 10 lengths behind 'Ms. Mumba'. One-run type can factor if able to avoid a wide trip.
th pick: #9 (Gracie Jean) (5-1) - Busy filly has been competitive in five straight starts at the meet, all at this level. Cal bred always has a good spot turning for home, but has comes up short at crunch time. Can impact, but she needs to do better in the final furlong.
