Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #5 (TAKIT WITHA GRAIN) (3-1) - Consistent for a runner at this level, 5yo by 'Lawyer Ron' was a winner here at this tag and trip in his local debut Oct. 31st. Moved up to this 3l condition Nov. 23rd, he was beaten a 'head' while racing wide down the stretch. Gets a slight edge.
nd pick: #1 (Goliath) (2-1) - The morning line favorite, he's spent his entire career at Hastings Park in Vancouver. He ships in very good form and had been sharp in four straight there. Has the rail and is a strong win candidate if he likes the warmer weather here.
rd pick: #6 (Merlot Brando) (12-1) - Very fast from the gate, he's racing second back from a half-year's absence. He tired in his return start, but no doubt needed the race for conditioning purposes. He's worked fast since and has blinkers back on for the first time since Jan. 2nd. His speed makes him dangerous at a big price.
th pick: #9 (Lucky Got Even) (8-1) - Even paced type showed some life here last out when he finished 3rd at this level going five furlongs. He stretches out a furlong and can grab a share with a late move if able to avoid a wide journey.
th pick: #3 (Pax Tecum) (5-1) - Lightly raced, he's the field's only 3yo. Fla bred fits with his best and is shortening back up after finishing 2nd here at this level Nov. 17th going a mile. Must be left in the mix.
