Top pick: #8 (BROTHER WESLEY) (3-1) - Improving gelding rallied to break his maiden here for a $5K tag on Feb. 10. Brought back 12 days later, he closed to finish second at this level in his first against winners.
2nd pick: #5 (Little Prince) (8-1) - Stretch-out sprinter has finished fourth in his last pair and looks all set for this longer attempt. His latest effort was his best overall since early December and he's a threat at a square price.
3rd pick: #6 (Buck's Tornado) (6-1) - Calif. bred has raced evenly in his last pair and had legitimate excuses in each. Gelding had finished 2nd in two straight here prior to that and must be left in the win mix.
4th pick: #3 (Modern Gentleman) (10-1) - His record says a lot. Old timer has only one win in 61 starts, but has 18 minor awards to go along with it. He finished third last out and was almost three back of "Brother Wesley." May grab a share with a repeat of that effort.
5th pick: #2 (Ballard Ruler) (4-1) - Once much classier type has slipped considerably of late. He makes his local debut first off a $4000 claim at Los Alamitos on Feb. 28. New barn stretches him out and Calif. bred can factor with his best, but no doubt will be over-bet.
