Top pick: #9 (I'M A FLASHY GIRL) (6-1) - Well bred filly hasn't seen action since finishing last of five when facing males in the $50K "Winnipeg Futurity" at Assiniboia Downs in early Sept. Working well. she's back with fellow maidens and racing against her own sex. Can take this at a square price if ready.
nd pick: #3 (Tuff Britt) (7-2) - The possible favorite, she set a fast pace before weakening to finish third here at this level and distance Dec. 27. It was her first since finishing a "neck" back of "I'm a Flashy Girl" on July 18th at Assiniboia Downs. A quick recent work indicates she's ready for her best. A very strong win candidate and I could have easily made her the top choice.
rd pick: #8 (Tropical Bay) (4-1) - She set/pressed a quick pace before weakening to finish 2nd here facing weaker when debuting on Jan. 12. Working fast since, she's a threat despite moving up in class.
th pick: #1 (Joan Ranger) (8-1) - One of six fillies making their debuts, she has the rail and a fine set of local works on view. Owner/trainer Jacque Guerra has won with 5 of 26 (19%) with first-time starters over the past 13 months.
th pick: #11 (Painted Druby) (15-1) - Another that's debuting, she's well bred and has back-to-back sharp local half-mile works on view. May be competitive at expected long odds.
