One run type finished 2nd facing a bit tougher last out and takes a slight drop in class. Gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #3 (Deadly Black Eagle) (4-1) - Another consistent veteran, he was only a 'neck' behind 'Skydreamin' here Dec. 14th. However, he was a no-excuse, last of six as a heavy favorite in his follow up start Dec. 26th. Claimed that day by Rick Wise, he's freshened him up for five weeks and raises him up just a bit. A repeat of his Dec. 14th effort makes him a threat.
3rd pick: #8 (Ultimate Question) (10-1) - Speedy sort was a gate-to-wire winner here facing $3,000 foes at this distance Jan. 2nd. It was his first start since April 13 when he was claimed by trainer Ty Garrett for $4k. He's since come back with a pair of very fast drills, and Garrett has given him a month off to avoid a possible 'bounce.' Dangerous on the lead at a square price.
4th pick: #10 (Little Bro Garrett) (8-1) - Very lightly raced, he's been off since the summer when he won three sprints in a row at Wyoming Downs. The figures earned fits with these if he returns in the same form.
5th pick: #9 (This Cat's Awesome) (6-1) - A 'horse for the course,' he's won eight of 14 on the local dirt and is one-for-13 else-where. He tired last out following a 'troubled' break on a muddy surface, and it came facing much tougher. 5yo is taking a big drop and must be left in the mix.
